We have 2 SNA posts available. The posts are subject to sanction by the NCSE. We are opening a special class for Autism for the first time. Commencement date is subject to the enrollment of children and the completion of reconfiguration works.

Duties of the post are as outlined in the Department of Education Skills 0030/2014 and other relevant circulars. The posts are subject to continued NCSE allocation and SENO review.

Applicants must demonstrate the specific competencies and requirements to meet the care needs of children.
Candidates are required to have minimum qualifications as set out by the DES Circular 0051/2019, though having Fetac Level 5/6 in SEN or other relevant qualifications in areas such as First Aid certification, Lamh, ICT is desirable.

SNAs will work under the direction of the Principal and Class Teacher. Candidates will be expected to show examples of working effectively in a team. Successful candidates will be part of an existing team of 6 SNAs currently in the mainstream school.

Applicants should have experience and relevant qualifications in working with children with ASD and other special needs.
Successful candidates will be expected to complete 72 hours (as per DES Circular 71/2011) throughout the year

Desirable skills include
• willingness to undertake courses which relate to the needs of the children and of the school
• suitability to the school and the needs of the pupils in the school
• experience of working in a DEIS school setting.
• experience in a Special Class setting or with pupils with ASD
• experience of working with pupils with autism and other special educational needs

Appointment is subject to current Garda vetting requirements, Occupational Health Screening and completion of the online Túsla Child Safeguarding training.

Interviews are provisionally scheduled for Tuesday 4th October.
