Scoil Bhríde, Killasonna Mixed N.S. is a co-educational, rural Catholic Primary School, situated in the parish of Granard, Co. Longford. This school has a Catholic Ethos and is under the Patronage of the Catholic Bishop of Ardagh and Clonmacnois.

The Board of Management of Scoil Bhríde invites applications for the position of Teaching Principal.
The present teaching staff comprises of three Mainstream Class Teachers (including the Principal), one Special Education Teacher and one SNA.

Applicants must meet the eligibility criteria of being fully registered under Route 1 (Primary) with the Teaching Council and of having 5 years’ recognised teaching service, two of which must be in a recognised primary school within the Republic of Ireland.
Specific Roles and Responsibilities for this position relate to the four domains of Leadership and Management, taken from ‘Looking at our School, 2022: A Quality Framework for Primary Schools and Special Schools’.

1. Leading Teaching and Learning
2. Managing the Organisation
3. Leading School Development
4. Developing Leadership Capacity

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate:
• A commitment to continue to lead and strengthen the Catholic ethos of the school and must have a recognised qualification to teach Religious Education.
• Evidence of leadership skills, with experience in a similar role in a multi-grade environment.
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to foster positive relationships with pupils, parents, staff, the Board of Management and wider school community;
• Experience in prioritising, planning and organising workload.
• An in-depth knowledge of the Primary Curriculum, including policy development and a strong commitment to leading teaching and learning.
• A high level of understanding and knowledge of special education needs and inclusion
• Experience in the development, implementation, operation and evaluation of innovative school-based initiatives.
• Organisational capabilities in managing school resources and proven administrative skills.
The successful candidate will be required to provide proof of qualifications.
